Portfolio > "Chicago Odyssey" Portraits of Chicago Artists: A Collaboration with Carole Harmel

Ino was a sea-nymph who rescued Odysseus when he was shipwrecked after he leaving the island of Calypso. Susan Sensemann is an artist who is fascinated with veils. Her 2004 series of gouache paintings have the feeling of flowing scarves, also suggesting depth, a characteristic which has characterized the sensibility throughout her extensive career. It brings together the many disciplines in which she works - drawing, painting, collage, sculpture and most recently, photography and writing.
